August 19 - Hutton Brothers Bag-pipers on the Hunting's Dock.
Please join us for another special afternoon of bag pipes and camaraderie at the Hunting's Dock—back by popular demand! Come by land or watch from the lake in your boat.
August 4 - Melwel Fish Fry
Melwel Lodge Fish Fry and Live Music. You are invited for an evening of live music and delicious food from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Melwel Lodge. The menu will consist of crowd favorites, such as beer-battered haddock, whitefish and fried trout nuggets, accompanied by coleslaw, french fries, and other sides. Music will be performed by Women in Song, The Jacques Brothers, Louise Lemieux, and Rose Neufeld. The price per person is $35, plus tax and gratuity.
August 2 - Both Sides Now: A Tribute to Canadian Songwriters Please join us for an evening of music and entertainment at 7:30 p.m. at the 12-sided barn. Musicians from Michigan and Ontario are combining to showcase the diversity and depth of Canadian songwriters. Songs from Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, Stan Rogers, Bryan Adams, and Leonard Cohen.
July 21 - Annual General Meeting
The annual Big Basswood Lake Association annual general meeting (AGM) will take place in-person on Friday, July 21, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. ET in person at Melwel Lodge.
The BBLA board is also offering a virtual participation option via Zoom. All members are strongly encourgaged to attend the AGM, as you will receive detailed updates on the BBLA board's activities over the past year and help us plan our efforts for the year to come.
July 21 - Big Basswood Lake BBQ
Please join us immediately following this year's AGM for a catered BBQ with hot dogs and hamburgers. All attendees are invited to join us at the BBQ which will be funded by the Big Basswood Lake Association (suggested donations will be happily accepted at the event). The BBQ will be "BYOB" so please consume responsibly.

October 24 - Huron Shores Municipal Elections
The Big Basswood Lake Association encourages all eligible members to vote in the upcoming October 24 Huron Shores municipal elections. Voting for candidates who support BBLA interests is the single most important action you can take to ensure that Big Basswood Lake is a top priority on the municipal agenda.
If you are you a first-time voter in Huron Shores municipal elections and have questions regarding voter registration and/or voting online, contact BBLA chairman Larry Allcorn (lallcorn@bell.net) and we try to connect you with additional resources.
September 7 - Citizen Science iNaturalist Webinar
iNaturalist is a social network of naturalists, citizen scientists, and biologists built on the concept of mapping and sharing observations of biodiversity across the globe. Did you know there is a sizeable iNaturalist community right here on Big Basswood Lake? Come hear about how you can learn about the many flora and fauna species that members of the BBLA are monitoring using this exciting citizen science social media technology (details to follow).

August 24 - Sowerby Heritage Evening
Please join us for this year's Sowerby Heritage Evening at 7:15 p.m. on August 24 at Sowerby Hall (1410 Basswood Lake Rd.) with music by John McClenaghan and a recitation by Vernon Bailey. Admission is by donation and all proceeds will benefit the North Shore Health Network.
